West Sussex Schools Regatta 2015

The Sussex Yacht Club youth all had a busy weekend with our youngest sailors attending West Sussex Schools annual regatta at Felpham. A total of 92 boats entered with 88 on the water split into 3 fleets. This regatta was for many of them their first experience of racing in large fleets and outside the canal and we had representatives in the toppers and the laser radials.

The weather was kind for once this season and all our sailors were able to compete. We had some great moments on the water with Ella being our first topper home in the top 3rd of the fleet. The team had 2 protests lodged against them but these were dismissed by the protest committee. Henry did a fantastic port flier start arriving 3rd at the windward mark.

Many personal successes were had and the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We also camped at Alwick scout hut with a walk to the fish and chip shop and some very dated music around the camp fire which the adults enjoyed!! Dave Lee was the official photographer so thanks to him for this small selection of his many images.
