Royal Escape Race Media Writer Volunteer WANTED!
The Royal Escape Race (RER) Committee is seeking volunteers to join the team! In particular a number of specific roles need to be filled in areas that, we hope, will further expand the popularity of the event and increase the number of competitors.
A role is available for an enthusiastic volunteer to produce written media, covering the production of articles, brochures and online content related to the event. The RER has a proud history and contains many interesting stories to mine for content. The volunteer would be tasked with producing articles explaining the race, exploring its history and importantly building on this history for the future. In addition the committee would like to begin the production of competitor profiles, to generate further interest and a better insight into the human stories at the heart of this enduring event.
Articles would be expected to be produced for the yachting press, local and regional press and our own SYC website.
The minimum ask will be the writing of one article per month in the lead up to the event, heightened frequency in the month of the event and write-ups/summaries to be produced following the race.
No specific experience in yacht racing or sailing/sports media is necessary. The volunteer could be someone taking part in the race or not. What is needed is enthusiasm and commitment to support the event by producing as much content as possible!
Whilst the role being advertised focuses on written media, it could potentially also encompass the production of other media – such as audio/video promotions and summaries. Alternatively, the audio-visual promotion role could be allocated to a second volunteer. If you are interested in supporting the RER in either of these ways, we would love to hear from you!
